THE AWARDS

The winner 2008
The European Central Bank is the winner of this year’s European Communication Award. By successfully launching and managing one of Europe’s key unifying elements, our single currency, the ECB has been instrumental in communicating the European idea. The award was presented to ECB Director of Communications Elisabeth Ardaillon-Pourier, on 24th April at the Concert Noble in Brussels. More information available here.
The ceremony
The award ceremony highlights and honours the achievement of a communications professional who has shown an outstanding service towards realising the European vision – unification. Though the ceremony culminates in the awarding of the European Communications Award, the gala event also provides a festive and elegant opportunity for Summit participants to meet, talk and discuss the day’s panel discussions.
European Communication Award
The idea of the European Communication Award was to honour the communication professional who has excelled in communicating the European idea.
In 2007, the European Association of Communication Directors (EACD) gathered about 400 leading personalities from business, media, politics and society for a fun, glamorous and fascinating networking evening on June 11, 2007, at the Concert Noble in Brussels. The winner of the European Communication Award 2007 was the UEFA, under Michel Platini's presidency and with William Gaillard as his Senior Advisor. William Gaillard received the prize in the Concert Noble for working to democratise European football and spreading the game’s benefits to the EU’s new members.
